Central Services newest EP "We're All Smarter Now" has been playing pretty much none stop this week in my stereo (very old stereo might i add). Very stripped down rock and some very catchy beats, this is the sort of music that would definately get you dancing no matter what mood you are in. You can download three of their tracks from their Myspace page, but why not just be a good sport and download my favorite track underneath.

I got xbxrx's new cd "Sixth In Sixes" in the mail today. I've only had one listen to it so far, but from that listen i can tell you that its brutal and just plain spastic. They sort of remind me of Some Girls and Blood Brothers. Thats my opinion, so download the song and see what you think.
The Futureheads Skip To The End
Not much to say about Division Day besides the fact that they absolutely kick ass! I should be slapped in the face for not hearing of this band earlier, why didn't anyone tell me about them? Well its a good thing that i have caught onto them now because I am loving their new record at the moment. Its all killer and no filler!
I recieved Spider's newest album today in the mail and i have to say that it is possibly the best thing I have heard in a long time, Spider is really something special and unique. She's very different in so many ways and is mysterious. "The Way To Bitter Lake" is truly amazing and captivating, a definate must get!
I have to admit, I do really like this band, and i am definately still dissapointed that i didn't get to see them earlier this year. Well, for the time being im currently rocking (is that the right word?) to their brand new album "Louder Now". I wouldn't say its a classic but it does have same damn fine tracks on it. Possible Top Ten at the end of the year.
Hymns newest release Brother/Sister is now available to download off their website. So what are you waiting for go check it out already, you will not be dissapointed. They are truly an excellent band and are definately talented at what they do.
The Sleeping Years is the new project for ex-Catcher's singer songwriter Dale Grundle. At full strength The Sleeping Years uses three-part harmonies with acoustic and electric guitars, piano and organs, e-bows, handclaps and bass and drums. This band is defanately something special.
Beirut Postcards From Italy
Personally, I think From First To Last's new cd Heroine is a really great cd. I could definately see it being in my top 10 at the end of the year. I have my favorite so far on offer today, if you like your dance beats mixed in with some hardcore your gonna love this song.
If you are in Melbourne on May 27th and you have nothing planned, please do yourself a favor and go see these two excellent bands. Decoder Ring and James Dela Cruz hardly ever put on shows so this is a pretty good chance to see them. But just in case you dont get to see them (because your busy or some other excuse), Decoder Ring will be doing the Splendour In The Grass festival in July. And as for James Dela Cruz, who knows he may do shows sometime soon.
Heres an interview i did with the lovely Nedelle November of last year.
Jen Cloher is one of my favorites at the moment. She's toured with numerous big acts such as Ben Lee, Mia Dyson, Pete Murray, Alex Lloyd, and Missy Higgins (that name might be familiar to some). She's truly excellent at what she does and is defiantely worth your time. She will be taking her band all across Australia in June so make sure to check out her Myspace page (link below) for tour dates.
I completely forgot all about the Sarah Blasko posts. Well i guess less talking and more music. Todays offering is the track "Sweet November" which once again is off her debut album.
This band has been making a big impact on me lately. The three songs I have on offer today I have none stopped listened to. So enjoy everybody.

Decoder Ring
Nedelle Interview
What three things would you say your music is a cross between?
Sadness, hope and indifference
Could you define your genre in five words or less?
No
Are there any bands or artists people could compare you to?
No
Briefly describe your best gig?
This past summer i played some shows in Sicily, and I played one in catania where my family is from. All my cousins and various relatives were at the show. I hadn't slept in 3 days so the experience was both wonderfully amazing and surreal.
Living or dead which three people would you like to record a song with?
Burt Bacharach, Bert Jansch, and Burt (of Sesame Street)
What do you think inspires your music?
Things that inspire any creative person- love, loneliness, conversation (I suppose all human relations/interactions,) other music and art forms (literature especially,) nature.
Whats the best thing about what you do?
I can avoid being a nine-to-fiver by touring and being content to live below the poverty line.
Which Australian band or artist would you most like to play with?
I am so incredibly sorry, but i'm not hip (obviously) and I don't know much about bands.
Who are the best up and comers you have seen recently?
Emma Zunz, Lizzy And The Redbirds..
Whats the funniest thing that has ever happened whilst playing a gig or doing a tour?
I fell off of my chair in LA, and the guitar made a huge sound because it was plugged in. I also knocked over my drink..everyone gasped and laughed and felt really sorry for me.
Do you attract any groupies?
at times, not as many as i'd like!!!!
If you were stuck in a tour van for six months and could only listen to three records what would they be?
A Coltrane CD, (maybe his recently discovered concert with monk because I haven't heard it much yet) some ravel/debussy/satie piano music, (might as well get a compilation that has all of them!) and the Deerhoof album "Milk Man" because it makes me so happy.
Why should people go to your next gig?
because songs make the world go round.
