Elliott Smith

Keeping in pattern with posting older music, heres today's instalment. Elliott Smith was a legend and will always remain a legend. Im going to steer away from his death today and just get straight to the point. Figure 8 is one of my all time favorite albums and Somebody I Used To Know is one of my most played songs (according to my ITunes). So please do yourself a favor and have a listen to this song. Get to know the man and feel what he's singing, he truly was a lyrical genious and is missed by many people world wide.

Iron Maiden Baby

I've found myself this week re-living some of the old classic albums from the hey day. Iron Maiden seem to be the one im constantly listening to. Are they still cool? I mean is it cool to like them now? The Tripper has been my number played song this week so here it is on offer for you. I have also just realised this is the first time i've posted a song that was before the year 2000, so i think from now on i might have to every now and then post something from the 90's or even earlier.

Satan Shall Be Known As Young And Restless

If you like your Blood Brothers then you'll have no problem at all digging the fine tunes of Young And Restless. They pretty much the same as Blood Brothers but they add their own little electronic style with their music and its just pure genious. It works so well. Don't take my word for it have a listen yourself.

Aids Wolf Have Panties On Their Mind

"we are AIDS wolf. we are a noisy and discordant punk band from montreal with improv tendencies. we eat pine cones and twigs and use our music to exalt the spirits. we have no shame. we hibernate for periods of time in small huts built of mud and only emerge when our eyes are wide and bodies gaunt. then the celebration begins...... our love is channeled via the echoing bangs and clangs of failed industry , howling winter winds and the crunching of tall grass on bare feet. chanting = healing. animals = brothers. beefheart = god. freedom = creation. catharsis is good for you. we are lifeforce warriors."

Can they get any cooler?

Portugal. The Album Of The Year?

"Waiter: Vultures!" is one of the best albums I have heard all year. It's just all over the place thats it good. One minute it may be slow and a little sad, but then Bang! straight back up it gets and right back in your face. "Chicago" is a perfect example of it being slow then reaching full speed. Seriously, get to know this band early because in the not too distant future these guys will be huge!

The Colour's Mirror Ball

Really clever band The Colour they suck you right in with their lyrics and some real damn catchy beats. It's hard to refuse them, just you try and do it. "Devil's Got A Holda Me" is the bands newest EP, but the song I have on offer today is off their debut EP "...Is Out And About". Abolutely fantastic release and still continues to be on rotation in my stereo. If I was to give you this CD and tell you it was the new Cure EP, you'd probably have a listen and be like wow.

The Drips

Oh, The Drips. The supergroup if you will. Possibly the best true punk rock band around at the moment. Im a fan of all members other bands. The Distillers were definately one of my favorite bands growing (im only 16 so I guess im still sort of growing up), Suicidal Tendencies im now starting to get into, and i've always been a fan of The Bronx since the release of their debut album all those years ago. So no doubt before getting this album, I already knew it would be an instant classic for me. And it was and still is.
